Socializing Your Dog
I think it's very important that dogs be around a lot of other dogs while they are growing up. This allows them to grow socially. They need to learn how to react to other dogs.
I bring my dog anywhere I can, just so he can get some experience in different situations. I always urge friends and family to bring their dogs when they come to visit. Not to mention the dogs in the neighborhood always love to play.
Places like Petsmart, Petco, dog parks, and other parks are a great place to bring your dog. Usually there are plenty of other dogs for him to sniff and check out. You can always enroll your puppy in obedience school, this is a great way to interact with other dogs.
Basically, just get your dog around as many dogs as you can, early and often. This will ensure that he is well adjusted in all social situations.
